Laura Davis
3rd Degree Black Belt
Instructor - ISKF of CSU

Laura has been training in Fort Collins with Sensei Bower for over 20 years. She is a Certified ISKF Instructor and Judge.

Laura has received all of her ranks from Masters Yaguchi and Okazaki, including her 3rd degree black belt, which she received in 2006. She has been a frequent member of the Mountain States regional team.

Brian Davis

Assistant Instructor - ISKF of CSU

Brian began training with Sensei Dennis Bower in 1988. 25 years later, he is still training in Fort Collins with Sensei Bower. Brian is a certified ISKF Instructor, Examiner and Judge and is also a CSU Alumnus.

Brian has received all of his ranks from Masters Yaguchi and Okazaki, including his 5th degree black belt, which he received in 2012. He has been a regular member of the Mountain States regional team since 1997.

Marius Lehene

Assistant Instructor - ISKF of CSU

Marius began training in his teenage years in his home country of Romania. Since then he has trained with many instructors both in the US and Europe. In addition to being an Assistant Instructor for the ISKF of CSU, Sempai Lehene is an Professor of Art at CSU. He is a Certified ISKF Instructor and Judge.

Marius received his 4th degree black belt from Master Yaguchi in 2016. Marius has competed for many years, both in the the US and Europe, and continues to be a strong competitor.

Born in 1932 in Hiroshima, Japan, Sensei Yaguchi began karate training in 1952.

Master Yutaka Yaguchi is not only the chief instructor for the Mountain States region, including part of Canada, he is the technical director for the ISKF. He is a 9th degree black belt who came from Japan to help start Shotokan Karate in the United States 35 years ago. He is also among the first graduates of the JKA Instructors Program.

Famous for his speed and power, he has developed more national champions than any other JKA instructor.

Dennis Bower

Chief Instructor - ISKF of Fort Collins

Sensei Bower began training in Japan while he was stationed there in 1976. After retiring from the Marine Corps, he joined JKA of Colorado under Master Yaguchi and in 1982 started instructing karate for Parks and Recreation, Fort Collins, Colorado.

Sensei Bower is a graduate of the JKA/ISKF Instructors Training Program.

All of the instructors for ISKF of CSU train under Sensei Bower. Sensei Bower comes to visit the ISKF of CSU once every semester to do a belt test, and teaches a class afterwards when his schedule allows.
